The police are not taking the case of a media worker seriously injured in an attack by miscreants during the quota reform movement.

OC Yasin Gazi of Badda Police Station, under the Gulshan Division of DMP, is reluctant to register it as a case despite receiving a statement at the station.

On July 18, during the quota agitation, miscreants armed with sticks and indigenous weapons attacked SA TV staff reporter Hamid Sohan Khan and videographer Mohammad Haroon while they were on duty in North Badda, Dhaka.

Both suffered serious injuries, with Sohan Khan’s left arm broken. Sohan Khan was admitted to AMZ Hospital but left after 2 days due to the presence of agitators outside the hospital.

Despite filing a complaint at Badda police station on July 22, the police have not taken any action in the past 4 days.

Multiple attempts to contact officers at the station for information have been unsuccessful, and OC Yasin Gazi has not responded to repeated calls.

Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP’s Gulshan Division, Shamim Ahmed Rifat, stated that a committee has been formed to investigate complaints and ensure no false cases are filed, emphasizing that DMP is closely monitoring to prevent harassment of innocent people.
