Online Desk : Three coordinators of the Students Against Discrimination were taken to the custody of the Detective Branch of police on Friday afternoon. Three coordinators — Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud and Abu Baker Majumder of the Students Against Discrimination were taken into the DB police custody, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s additional commissioner (Detective) Mohammad Harun-ar-Rashid told journalists on Friday (July 26) night.
The DB’s chief claimed that three coordinators of the Students Against Discrimination were taken to their custody “for the sake of their security.” Earlier, three coordinators of the Students Against Discrimination — Nahid Islam, Asif Mahmud and Abu Baker Majumder — were picked up from Ganashasthya Hospital at Dhanmondi in the capital on Friday afternoon. There was also an allegation that Nahid Islam’s wife was picked up by the DB from Ganashasthya Hospital. Another coordinator of the Students Against Discrimination Abdul Hannan Masud said three coordinators and Nahid Islam’s wife were picked up from the hospital by some plain clothed policemen. “We’ve also become panic stricken. We’re trying to announce our next programme through a news conference,” he said. Two of the coordinators were being treated for injuries at Ganashasthya Hospital.
