Online Desk: The results of the 2022 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent exams were published on Wednesday morning. This year, 85.95 per cent of the examinees passed the exam and a total of 176,282 students attained GPA 5.00. Education minister Dipu Moni informed this to media during a press conference at the capital’s International Mother Language Institute at 12:30 pm on Wednesday.
Cumilla education board had the highest pass rate among nine educational boards, while Dhaka had the highest number of GPA-5 recipients in the HSC. While Cumilla topped the list with 90.72 percent pass rate, Mymensingh ranked the lowest with 80.32 percent. Dhaka board ranked second with 87.83 percent while 86.95 percent students passed in Barishal.
According to the data available, the Dhaka board topped the list in terms of highest GPA-5 with 62,421 students, followed by Rajshahi education board with 21,855, Jashore education board with 18,703, Cumilla education board with 14,991, Dinajpur education board with 11,830 students and Chattogram education board with 12,670 students. Sylhet education board is at the bottom with 4,871 students securing GPA-5. Meanwhile, students in Barishal and Mymensingh education boards did slightly better with 7,386 and 5,028 GPA-5 recipients respectively.
Earlier, prime minister Sheikh Hasina published the results at around 11:45 am. Education minister Dipu Moni handed over a copy of the results to her at 11:15 am. Deputy minister for education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury accompanied Dipu Moni that time. Later, chairmen of different education boards handed over copies of the result to the prime minister. The programme was held at the Chameli Hall of the prime minister’s office.
A total of 1,203,407 examinees appeared in the examinations under 11 education boards – nine general education boards, one madrasah and one technical board. Of them, 622,796 were male and 580,611 were female examinees. The examinations took place at 2,649 centres. The number of examinees was 1,399,690 last years. The number of candidates declined by 196,283 compared to the previous year.
Educational institutions under the Dhaka board can download their institutional result sheet by clicking on the result corner in www.dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd and entering their institute’s EIIN. Students can download their result sheet by going on www.educationboardresults.gov.bd and entering their roll and registration number. Besides, students will be able to collect their result through SMS. They have to type their HSC board’s name (first three letters), roll number and year (for example: HSC Dha 123456 2022) and send an SMS to 16222.
