Online Desk : Leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement have rejected outright Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s proposal for talks. They said they have no intention to sit for talks with the government. Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators, of the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement, stated it to journalists on Saturday (August 3) afternoon. Earmier in the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she wanted to sit with quota reform protesters.
“Ganabhaban’s gates are open. I want to sit with quota reform protesters. I want to listen to them. I don’t want conflict.” She made the remarks at a meeting with the central leaders of the Professional Coordination Council. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also directed law enforcers to release the detained students and said every killing will be prosecuted. Earlier, three Awami League leaders were assigned to hold discussions with the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The three leaders are — Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak, joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim. Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave them instructions to calm the situation through discussions.
