Online Desk : A case has been filed against 34 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and for education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, over the murder of a student in Chattogram. Uncle of the victim Mohammad Parvez filed the case against 34 named and 50 unnamed people with the Chandgaon Police Station on Saturday, said Zahidul Kabir, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The other accused include former president of Chattogram Metropolitan Chhatra League Nurul Azim Rony, Juba League leader Babar Ali, and two councillors of Chattogram City Corporation — Nur Mostafa Tinu and Esrarul Haque, 50 unnamed people. Tanvir Siddique, 19, a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee of Ashekan Awlia Degree College, was shot dead in a clash between protesters and police, Awami League activists during Quota Reform Movement in Bahaddarhat area of the city on July 18.
Two other people – Hridoy Chanda Taruya, a student of Chattogram University, and Saymon, a shop employee, were also killed on that day. With the new case, Hasina has been facing a total of nine cases, including six for murder, one for abduction, and two filed with the International Crimes Tribunal for crimes against humanity and genocide.
