Online Desk : A case has been filed against former lawmaker and whip Saimum Sarwar Kamal and 150 others over the death of a youth during quota reform movement in Cox’s Bazar. Sub-Inspector of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Md Selim Mia filed the case with the police station on Saturday (August 17).
Officer-in-Charge Md Rakibuzzaman said other accused in the case include– Shahinul Haque Marshal, chairman of Cox’s Bazar Zilla Parishad, his brother Kaisarul Haque Jewel, former Sadar upazila chairman, district Awami League general secretary Mujibur Rahman, Cox’s Bazar Municipal Chhatra League president Hasan Tarek, Cox’s Bazar Municipal mayor Mahabubur Rahman Chowdhury, Cox’s Bazar district Chhatra League president Saddam Hossain, general secretary Maruf Adnan. According to the case statement, on August 4, the accused attacked and opened fire in the Gungach Tala area of town during the quota reform movement, killing an unidentified youth.
