Online Desk  :   BNP Chairperson’s adviser Lion Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury was freed from Chattogram Central Jail on Tuesday (August 20) after eight years. Deputy jailer Md Ibrahim said Aslam Chowdhury came out of prison at about 10am.

Bail paper of Aslam Chowdhury of the last case reached the jail and after scrutinising those, he was permitted to walk out, he added. Meanwhile, hearing the news of his release, hundreds of BNP leaders and activists have gathered in front of the Chattogram Central Jain since morning amid rain. They welcomed him at the jail gate with flowers. Later, they started for Sitakunda with Aslam Chowdhury by processions with trucks.

The BNP leader has been kept in jail after showing him arrested in 76 political cases. He was granted bail in 75 cases, said Aslam Chowdhury’s personal lawyer KM Saiful Islam. Mentionable, Aslam Chowdhury was arrested in May 16, 2016, in a sedition case.
