Online Desk : Cumilla Cantonment’s 33 Infantry Division has rescued some 9,500 stranded people from the flood affected Feni, Noakhali, and Cumilla’s Burichong and Chouddagram upazilas. Among them, a sick pregnant woman was rescued from the flood-affected Feni district. She has given birth to a baby boy at an army-run hospital. Besides, the Army men have provided relief among 4,500 people. Rescue operation is still going on. The Army have confirmed about rescue operations in three districts from Wednesday (August 23) to Friday afternoon.
Cumilla Cantonment’s 33 Infantry Division’s GOC and Area Commander Major General Jahangir Alam has been conducting the rescue operation being present at the flood-affected areas. Sources at the Cumilla Cantonment said some 20 patients were flown to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Cumilla by the Army’s aviation helicopter from the flood-affected Feni district. Among them, a sick pregnant woman was flown to Cumilla CMH from Fulgazi upazila. She gave birth to a baby boy on early Friday afternoon. Both the mother and her baby boy are well.
Besides, treatment is being provided to all the sick patients. Apart from it, the Army personnel are actively taking part in rescue operations, providing emergency medical treatment and distributing relief in the flood-affected areas.
