Online Desk  : Posts, Telecommunications and ICT adviser Md Nahid Islam has directed the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to provide diesel at free of cost to keep the generators of the mobile operators active in Feni district.

“Huge diesel is needed to keep 78 mobile network towers active as the district is facing power outage for the last five consecutive days. It is very essential to keep the mobile network towers active in the wake of ongoing flood situation in Feni district.” The adviser gave the instructions to the BTRC on Saturday.

Each of the 75kV portable generators consume 2.3 litres of diesel an hour, while each of 30kV portable generators consume 4.4 litres of diesel every hour. So, 78 generators consume as much as 6,552 litres of diesel per day and the market price of it is Tk 7,14,168. In the next seven days, 45,864 litres of diesel will be required, which will cost Tk 49,99,176.

The money will be paid from the BTRC’s fund at the directive of the Posts, Telecommunications and ICT adviser.
