At least 31 lose sights of both eyes in Dhaka police firing

Online Desk  :  At least, 31 individuals have lost sights of both eyes in firing by police and Awami League activists during the recent Anti-Discrimination Students Movement in Dhaka alone.
On the other hand, more than 400 students and people are still taking treatment lying on hospital beds after losing sights in one of their eyes. This figure has been received from the National Ophthalmology Institute and Hospital at Agargaon in Dhaka.

A total of 922 people took treatment at this hospital alone after being injured by shots on their eyes in the month of July alone. Dr Zakia Sultana Nila, assistant professor at the National Ophthalmology Institute and Hospital, said a total of 887 patients got admitted to the hospital from July 17 to August 31, 2024 being shot by bullets. Of them, 749 were admitted here, while operations were conducted in the eyes of 504 of them.

Professor Dr Khair Ahmed Chowdhury, Director of the National Ophthalmology Institute and Hospital said special medical teams have been formed to restore the eyesight of the students and people who were injured in police firing during the recent revolution.
