Online Desk  :   Two youths have been killed during the clash between two groups of people at Mohammadpur in Dhaka. The victims were Nasir, 30, and Munna, 22. It is learnt that Nasir was an Awami League worker under Ward No. 34.  The clash happened at about 7:30pm on Friday (September 20). Doctors declared Munna and Nasir dead when they were rushed to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) respectively.

One Shaon Ahmed, who brought Nasir at the DMCH emergency department, said, “Nasir and I were going on board a motorcycle. I was heading toward Sadek Khan Wholesale Market, while Nasir was going to Tin Rastar More. He asked me to drop him at Tin Rastar More. When we were going to Tin Rastar More from Sadek Khan Wholesale Market, we saw a group was running toward us with sharp weapons. At one stage, they hacked Nasir indiscriminately from behind.”

He said as Nasir started running leaving the motorcycle behind, the assailants started hacking him again indiscriminately. One of the assailants asked his accomplices to slaughter Nasir right on the road. “When one of them was about to slaughter Nasir, I stopped him. At that time, we two fell on the ground. When police appeared at the spot, all the attackers fled away. Recovering Nasir, we brought him at the DMCH where he succumbed at night.”

Shaon further said, “Chase and counter-chase between two groups were going on when we were heading to Tin Rastar More. But, I can’t say why chase and counter-chase were going on. Nasir was a worker of Ward No. 34 Awami League under Hazaribagh Police Station. He used to work as a mason”

Confirming the matter, Mohammadpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Ali Iftekhar Hasan said, “We have received information of the killing of two men — Munna, and Nasir — near Sadek Khan Arat. Of them, Munna died at Suhrawardy Hospital while Nasir at the DMCH. There are seven to eight cases related to clash against Munna.”
