Online Desk : Eight people, including four children, were killed after a private car lost control and fell into a roadside canal in Pirojpur Sadar upazila early Thursday. The accident happened at about 2AM. The deceased were the members of two families. They are Motaleb, 45, his wife Sabina, 36, his two-year-old son Shoaib and 10 year-old daughter Mukta, residents of Sherpur’s Sadar upazila; and Shawan Mridha, 32, wife Amena Begum, 30, two sons–Abdullah, 3, and Shahadat, 10– residents of Pirojpur’s Najirpur upazila. Motaleb and Shawan were friends. They liveed in Dhaka’s Bhasantek area. All the entire family members died in the accident.
Shaon’s cousin Murad, said that Shawan and Motaleb were going to Shawan’s residence in Najirpur with their families from Kuakata. Around 2AM, Shawan, who was driving the car, lost control over the steering at the Nurani Gate area and plunged into a canal. Eight family members died on the spot. Locals immediately informed the Fire Service and police. According to additional superintendent of police Mukit Hasan Khan, Motaleb’s identity was confirmed by an ID card found on him, which showed that he was employed as civil staff in the Bangladesh Army. Two days ago, Shawan and Motaleb went to visit Kuakata with their family members, Murad added.
