Online Desk : Celebrating various festivals, including Durga Puja, with the help of the army, police, and RAB is a failure of our society, Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus said on Saturday. “We all will have to work together so that we can observe these festivals without the help of the law enforcement agencies,” Yunus said this while visiting Dhakeshwari National Temple in Dhaka. During his visit, he also exchanged greetings with the members of Hindu community on the auspicious occasion of the Durga Puja, the largest Hindu religious festival in Bangladesh, said the Chief Adviser’s press wing. The chief adviser also praised the tireless efforts of the members of different law enforcement agencies and extended his heartiest thanks to them for celebrating the puja festival in a peaceful manner across the country.
The law enforcement agencies have done a tough job and proved that a tough job is done easily if all concern people work together sincerely. The law enforcement agencies proved that even the toughest tasks can be accomplished easily when all concerned parties work together sincerely, he said.About the failure of the society, he said, “We have not yet been able to build a society where one group can celebrate joyous events and festivals without excluding others, where all people will take part in celebration together. What will we do with such a society? Is this the kind of society we want? No, we do not want such a society.”
“The people should be able to celebrate their joyful festivals with everyone taking part without any hindrance—that’s how it should be. But we have failed to ensure a congenial atmosphere in the country,” he said. To get rid of the situation, the student-people have created a scope through a mass upsurge to build a new Bangladesh with a new dream, he said.
“We celebrated the festival with the help of law enforcement agencies this time, but in the future, we will not rely on them. We will work together to ensure that we can celebrate such festivals without needing assistance from any law enforcement agency,” her said.
