Online Desk : Three Bangladeshi nationals who suffered severe burn injuries in an explosion and fire at four factories in Gelang Patah industrial area of Johor, Malaysia, have succumbed to their injuries. Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan confirmed the deaths in a statement on Monday, adding that the tragic incident occurred on October 10 at multiple chemical factories in the SILC industrial area of Iskandar Puteri, Johor. The most recent casualty, Salam alias Akash, 21, passed away at 12:50 AM on Sunday after five days of treatment at local Sultanah Aminah Hospital. Salam was son of Mohiuddin from the South Para of ward No. 9 in Ramjanbagh area of Munshiganj district.
Two other victims had previously died while hospitalized—one on Friday at 7 PM and another early Saturday at 3 AM. The deceased have been identified as Jabbar Ali and Abu Taher. The bodies of all three victims are being held in the hospital morgue. ASM Zahidur Rahman, the First Secretary (Labor) of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, stated that the embassy has reached out to the families of the victims to update them on the situation. The High Commission has also promised to facilitate the swift return of the three bodies to Bangladesh.
Zahidur Rahman further indicated that they are working with the employer of the victims, Pentachem (M) Sdn Bhd, to ensure the maximum compensation is obtained for the victims’ families.
