Online Desk : Police detectives have arrested Moazzem Hossain, a presidium member of Jubo League’s central committee, in Dhaka on charges related to explosives and attempted murder in two separate cases. A Dhaka court later granted police three days to interrogate him in custody, said Nawabganj Police Station chief Mominul Islam.
Moazzem, a resident of Nawabganj Upazila’s Kamarkhola village, was detained from his residence in the capital’s Moghbazar on Friday. Mominul told bdnews24.com that Moazzem was named in two separate lawsuits, one for attempted murder and the other under the Explosives Acts, at Nawabganj Police Facility. Salman F Rahman, the ex-private investment and industry advisor to former premier Sheikh Hasina, is the principal accused in the cases.
The cases were initiated in connection with the attacks on Anti-discrimination Student Movement programmes on Sep 3 and 17. Senior Judicial Magistrate Tajul Islam Sohag placed Moazzem under a three-day remand after he was produced before a Dhaka court on Friday afternoon following his arrest.
