Online Desk : Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) does not favour banning any political party in the country, said the party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He said attempts are going on to create anarchic situation in the country by creating issues unnecessarily. “There must be conspiracies behind such attempts. Jatiya Party issue is not an issue Mirza Fakhrul made the remarks while speaking at a memorial meeting organised in remembrance of BNP Chairperson’s former adviser Sabih Uddin Ahmed at Brac Centre, Mohakhali in the capital on Saturday (November 2).
The BNP Secretary General said conspiracies are being hatched centering Bangladesh in various ways. He called upon the countrymen to remain alert to foil those conspiracies. He said former ambassador Sabih Uddin Ahmed worked for the country, people and democracy throughout his life. He would have been happier if he could see the fascism-free Bangladesh. Late Sabih Uddin Ahmed would always be remembered by the people of this country, he further said.
The memorial meeting was also attended by interim government’s finance adviser Saleh Uddin Ahmed, BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Daily Star editor Mahfuz Anam, Sabih Uddin Ahmed’s friends and well-wishers.
