Online Desk : The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered to complete the investigation against eight police official, including former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun and sacked Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan, within a month in a case filed for crimes against humanity on charge of genocide during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
A three-member International Crimes tribunal, chaired by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, passed this order on Wednesday. The tribunal also set December 19 for the next hearing. Chief prosecutor Tazul Islam was present during the hearing. Earlier around 10:15AM, these eight police officials were produced before the tribunal amid high security. They were later shown arrested in the genocide case.
Others six officials are former DMP DC Md Jashimuddin Mollah, superintendent of Dhaka police Md Abdullah Al Kafi, additional superintendent (Savar circle) Md Shahidur Rahman, Jatrabari Police Station’s former OC Abul Hasan, Gulshan Police Station’s former OC Majharul Haque and former DB inspector Md Arafat Hossain. On October 27, the tribunal ordered to produce these officials before it accepting the prosecution’s prayer.
