Online Desk: Awami League (AL) backed Chattagram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad got 12 posts including senior Vice President and General Secretary respectively in Chattogram District Bar Association (CDBA) election. BNP-Jamaat-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad secured nine posts including President and cultural secretary in the election, according to the result announced on Monday morning, BSS reports.

Oikya Parishad candidate Advocate Md Nazim Uddin Chowdhury and Somonnoy Parishad candidate Advocate ASM Bazlur Rashid Minto have been elected president and general secretary (GS) respectively in the election. Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Ratan Kumar Roy declared the results of Chattogram District Bar Association (CDBA) early today.

Two panels- Awami League and pro-liberation forces backed Chattogram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad and pro-BNP-Jamaat backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Parishad contested the election. Election commission sources said a total of 4145 lawyers out of 5,215 cast their votes from 9 am to 4pm without intermission on Sunday. CDBA sources said a total of 42 candidates vied for the posts of 21 office-bearers including 11 executive committee members.
