Online Desk  :  The High Court on Wednesday wanted to know detailed information about International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). It asked the attorney general Md Asaduzzaman to inform the court by Thursday the about ISKCON’s genre as an organization, registration, people associated with it, and the steps of the government regarding the organization. The HC bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury passed the order after a Supreme Court lawyer, Moniruzzaman, placed two newspaper reports on ISKCON before the bench.

The attorney general told media that he has informed the court that the ISKCON incident is unexpected and unfortunate. He said: “As the incident is a criminal offense the government will take legal action for that. However, whether ISKCON will be banned, whether they are registered, these are matters of policy decision of the government.” Mr Asaduzzaman said: “A lawyer has filed a petition in the HC seeking directions to ban ISKCON and impose a state of emergency in Chattogram and Rangpur to avoid further untoward situation.” Later, HC summoned the attorney general as the matter is sensitive, he added. The court asked Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman to inform the court about the government’s steps Thursday.
