Online Desk : A BNP leader, who has been buried in Savar, is Abul Harris Chowdhury. The DNA test conducted on the remains exhumed from a grave has matched the family of Harris Chowdhury. Now, his family can buried him in any grave as per their choice.
A report in this regard was submitted before a High Court bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubina Asafa on Wednesday. After that, the court permitted the family to bury Harris Chowdhury in any grave. Barrister Mahdin Chowdhury was present in the court on behalf of the petitioner.
Following a writ petition filed by Harris Chowdhury’s daughter Barrister Samira Tanzin, the High Court on September 5, ordered the exhumation of the body buried under the name Mahmudur Rahman at the Jamia Khatamun Nabiyeen Madrasa graveyard in Savar to ascertain its identity via DNA testing. In 2021, media reports informed that Abul Harris Chowdhury was buried in Savar’s Jalalabad under the name ‘Mahmudur Rahman’.
