Online Desk  :   BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said they (Awami League) wanted to destroy the future of country’s people. BNP leaders and workers have been the victims of repression and torture over the last 15 years. “In spite of enforced disappearances, murder and torture, the number of BNP leaders and workers is still high. Country’s people look at the BNP leaders and workers”, he said. He made the remarks joining virtually with the Cumilla Divisional Training Workshop on “31 Points of Repairing the State Structure and Involvement of People,”  as the chief guest at Funtown Conference Hall in Cumilla city on Tuesday (December 10).

Tarique Rahman said: “31 points are a list on what we want to do for Bangladesh and its people. Different individuals and organisations raised many problems. We stated these two years ago. We were not aware when the autocrat would leave the power. Many didn’t think that the autocratic regime would leave power. At that time, we proposed this 31 points. The main objective of it to do something for the country and the countrymen.” The BNP Acting Chairman said majority of the people of Bangladesh have faith in BNP. They also have trust in the party. “But, its the responsibility of us (BNP leaders and workers) to uphold this trust. If we want to uphold it, we show tolerance in our behaviours and attitudes so that it attracts others.”

Tarique Rahman said, “My father became martyred while working for the country and its people. My younger brother also became martyred. And, my mothers suffered imprisonment and torture. Many BNP families of the country have such stories. Being chained, many even had to attend namaj-e-janaza of their relatives. But, we should not think about ourselves only. We must have to think about the country and its people first.”
