Online Desk  :  The followers of Maulana Mohammad Zubair have demanded to ban the supporters of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi from carrying out any organisational activities and not to allow them to take part in the Ijtema. Maulana Mamunul Haque made the demand after a meeting with seven advisers to the interim government at the Secretariat on Wednesday, December 18. At that time, Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was sitting next to him.

Claiming that the followers of Maulana Saad attacked the ones of Maulana Zubair and killed four people, he said, “They (followers of Maulana Saad) are playing a role as friend of anti-Bangladesh force. Resisting this evil force is not only the responsibility of Alem-Olama, but also it is the duty of state and administration, too.” Stating that a case will be filed over the attack, he said, “We have demanded to ban the followers of Maulana Saad designating it as a terrorist organization.” There is no chance for the followers of Maulana Saad after the attack at Ijtema ground, he noted. Asked if the government allows Maulana Saad’s followers to hold Ijtema, what will be their stance, Mamunul replied, “Hope the government will not do this mistake.”

The followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi decided to vacate the Bishwa Ijtema ground on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur. Once they leave, the government will assume responsibility for the site. Maulana Reza Arif, a follower of Saad, shared this decision with journalists following a meeting with five advisers. Earlier, three people were killed in a clash between two factions of Tabligh Jamaat at the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi, Gazipur, in the early hours of today.
