Online Desk : Ex-principal secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and former National Board of Revenue (NBR) chairman Nazibur Rahman was sent to jail after end of his three-day remand in connection with killing of BNP activist Makbul in 2022. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order today (Dec 25) after police, following the remand, produced Nazibur before the court appealing to keep him in jail until the investigation is over, reports BSS.
A Dhaka court on Dec 18, granted him a three-day remand in the case after the hearing. Police arrested Nazibur Rahman from the capital’s Ramna area on Oct 6. According to the case documents, BNP leaders and activists as part of their party program on Dec 10, 2022, began to gather in the capital. Police and AL men later created ruckus in front of the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan on Dec 7. They entered the BNP office and charged batons and opened fire at the BNP men, injuring Mokbul critically. In this incident, an individual named Mahfuzur Rahman filed a case against 256 people including Sheikh Hasina in Paltan Police Station on Sept 30.
