Online Desk  :   A Bangladeshi couple reportedly died while trying to save their children on a beach in Australia. The accident occurred at approximately 2 pm Bangladesh time on Saturday at Walpole Sea Beach in Perth, Australia. Later, local police recovered their bodies. The dead were identified as Shahidul Hasan Swapan, a former student of the Urban and Rural Planning (URP) discipline of Khulna University (KU), and his wife Sabrina Ahmed Papri, student of the same discipline. Swapan was a teacher at Curtin University in Australia.

Khulna University Alumni Association (KUA) General Secretary Akhtar Hossain confirmed their deaths, citing Swapan’s classmate Shafayet Hossain, an expatriate in Australia. He said that expatriates Swapan and Sabrina went to Walpole West, Australia, to visit the beach with some families during the Christmas holidays. At that time, their two daughters, aged 10 and 14, were drifting into the sea with tide. They immediately went into the sea to save their children. Although they were able to save their children, they were both swept away by the tide. Later, local police recovered their bodies. However, their two daughters are safe.
