Online Desk : The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing has announced plans to provide media workers a rare opportunity to visit the infamous “Aynaghar,” a site known as a torture cell during the tenure of the previous Awami government. Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam shared the news during a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Sunday (January 5). Speaking to reporters, Shafiqul Alam said, “Media personnel will have the chance to witness firsthand the Aynaghar, where countless individuals endured unspeakable suffering. This initiative aims to expose the inhumane treatment meted out to innocent people by the previous fascist regime.”
The press secretary highlighted that many detainees, held for extended periods, left writings on the walls of the prison cell, documenting their ordeals. These remnants serve as stark evidence of the past abuses. The move to allow media workers into the Aynaghar aligns with the interim government’s pledge to ensure transparency and accountability. By shedding light on these dark chapters of history, the government aims to foster public awareness and a commitment to human rights.
