Online Desk  :   Five people were killed and at least four others were injured when a train hit a microbus in Faridpur today (Jan 7) causing it to fall into a nearby pond. The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately. The accident occurred around 11:30am at the Munshibazar area in Faridpur Sadar. Upon receiving information, three fire engines from Faridpur Fire Station rushed to the scene and began rescue operations.

Faridpur Fire Service Station Officer Md Nazrul Islam confirmed the death of three people at the scene. Witnesses said that the other two people died after being taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. The other injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.

Onlookers said a Hiace microbus carrying 10 to 11 people was crossing a railway crossing when it was hit by the Dhaka-bound train Madhumoti Express. The microbus fell into a nearby ditch and its fuel cylinder exploded. There was no gateman at the railway crossing at the scene of the accident.
