Online Desk  :  The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued arrest warrants against eight individuals, including two Awami League (AL) leaders and six police officers, for their alleged involvement in crimes committed against humanity during July-August mass uprising last year. ICT Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam revealed the information at a press briefing after the court proceedings. He said the ICT investigation agency has found evidence of their direct involvement in murders in Dhaka during the mass uprising.

Among the eight people, two are influential AL leaders, and six are top and mid ranking police officers. The ICT chief said that the names of the persons were not disclosed by the tribunal or the prosecution as the accused could take attempt to flee the country to avoid the judgement. The prosecution moved four separate petitions to the tribunal seeking the issuance of the arrest warrants in this regard.
