Online Desk : Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has explained the safety measures on the floating excavator at the inauguration ceremony of canal renovation and rolling out red carpet incident. The city corporation’s public relations officer Maqbul Hossain gave this explanation in a press release on Sunday. On behalf of DNCC, Maqbul Hossain said, “Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) organized the inauguration ceremony of the canal renovation work at the edge of Baunia Canal in Mirpur Sunday morning. After the speeches of the advisors and guests present at the ceremony, the officials got on the floating excavator to inaugurate the renovation work, where the operator started the operation.”
After the ceremony, journalists asked what was the reason for laying the red carpet to go to the floating excavator? In this regard, the DNCC authorities clearly state that the floating excavator is not placed on a permanent pontoon, but rather on a temporary site. In addition, since the road to get on the excavator is very steep and muddy and the floor of the excavator is slippery, a red carpet-like mat has been used to ensure the safe movement of the guests and to make the movement area visible.
“DNCC has very carefully observed that the guests walked on a red carpet during the inauguration ceremony and got on the floating excavator to start the work. This is not a formal red carpet, but a measure taken only for the sake of safety. There is no intention to do extravaganza or show excessive respect here. Since safety is important when getting on and off the floating excavator, the DNCC authorities have taken necessary measures,” he stated. He also said that Dhaka North City Corporation has always given utmost importance to transparency, security and public interest and will continue to do so in the future.
