Online Desk  :  After completing the remand period, the court ordered former Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam to be sent to jail. On Friday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroze Tithi issued the order in the murder case of Md. Fazlul Karim. On this day, the Detective Branch (DB) of police presented the accused before the court after the remand and requested to keep him in jail. Following the petition, the court ordered his imprisonment.

Earlier on January 22, DB police presented Atiqul before the court and sought a 10-day remand. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate G M Farhan Ishtiaq granted a three-day remand. According to the case statement, Md. Fazlul Karim joined the student-public demonstration during the anti-discrimination movement on August 5. In the afternoon, he was injured by gunfire allegedly shot by the accused and was admitted to the hospital. Later that night, he was moved to the ICU, where doctors declared him dead. Following the incident, the victim’s brother, Anwar Hossain, filed a case at Uttara East Police Station on August 21.
