Online Desk : At least 15 individuals were injured in a clash between two student groups at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Tuesday afternoon (February 18) over demands to ban student politics on campus. The situation led to intense chases and counter-chases, creating an atmosphere of unrest. According to eyewitnesses, a group of students marched around the university dormitories chanting slogans such as “No place for student politics at KUET,” “We demand a politics-free campus,” and “This campus will not tolerate student politics.” The protest escalated near the central mosque when another group of students confronted them, leading to an altercation. The verbal dispute quickly turned into a physical clash, spreading beyond the campus to the adjacent roads.
At least 15 people from the both groups sustained injuries during the clash, reports eyewitnesses. At the time of reporting, the campus remains highly tense, with ongoing skirmishes between the groups. Confirming the incident, Khan Jahan Ali Police Station officer-in-charge, Md. Kabir Hossain, told, “Tensions have flared between two student groups at KUET, resulting in chases and counter-chases. We are actively working to bring the situation under control.” Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and additional security measures may be implemented to restore order.
