Online Desk  :  The government has decided to recruit an additional 2,000 doctors through the ongoing recruitment process of the Public Service Commission (PSC). The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Council on Tuesday. After the meeting, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, and Water Resources, briefed the media at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka. She stated that the decision aims to ensure adequate medical services for people in rural areas.

Rizwana Hasan said, “The PSC is currently in the process of recruiting 3,493 doctors. In addition to this, the government has decided to recruit 2,000 more doctors. The primary goal is to ensure that people in rural areas have access to healthcare services.” The environment advisor also mentioned that Bangladesh currently imports liquefied natural gas (LNG) from two countries under long-term contracts. However, Muhammad Fawzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, recently visited Saudi Arabia and held discussions with officials from Aramco, the state-owned oil and gas company. Aramco has agreed to supply LNG to Bangladesh at a price lower than its market rate.

Rizwana Hasan informed that the Advisory Council has made 135 decisions so far, out of which 92 have been implemented. Additionally, the meeting approved the renaming of two institutions. The “Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship Trust Act (Amendment) Ordinance” and the “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre Act (Amendment) Ordinance” will undergo name changes. For example, the Novo Theatre Act will now be referred to as the “Novo Theatre Act (Amendment) Ordinance.”
