RMG worker killed in road accident, fellows block highway

Online Desk : Garment workers have blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh highway since Wednesday morning after the death of one of their fellow. Around 8AM, workers of Golden Refit Garments Ltd started a protest that led to the highway blockade. Jannatul Ferdous Tamanna, 32, an employee of the garments, was killed in a road accident while crossing a road in Gazipur Sadar’s Bagher Bazar area around 5:40AM. But the factory authorities denied that Jannatul was their employee, the workers alleged.
Jaydebpur Police Station OC Abdul Halim said, “We have been requesting the workers to leave the road.” Industrial police members are on the scene. Meanwhile, a long tailback was created on both sides of the highway.
