The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk : Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said that the case filed over deadly Holey Artisan Bakery attack will be resolved soon. The minister gave the assurance when a nine-member Japanese delegation led by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s special adviser Nakatani Gen called on him at his secretariat office in Dhaka on Monday (February 20, 2023).
Matters like human and labour rights situation in Bangladesh, work environment in the garments industries, labour safety, and progress of Holey Artisan Bakery attack case were discussed at the meeting. Speaking about the advancement of the human rights situation in Bangladesh, Anisul Huq said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working sincerely to establish and strengthen human rights, since assuming power in 2009.
“The government has brought the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to justice, people accused of committing genocides and crimes against humanity in 1971, to justice. We have established a strong National Human Rights Commission and monitoring any incidents of human rights violation, round the clock,” he said.
While speaking about the suspension of jail term of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the law minister further said though she was convicted and sentenced by court in graft case, as she got seriously ill in jail, her jail term was suspended because of the magnanimity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and she is now taking treatment from her home. “The present government has adopted zero tolerance police against terrorism and terror activities have drastically gone down because of the extensive activity of law enforcing agencies after the deadly Holey Artisan Bakery attack incident. The case is now pending before the High Court for holding hearing on death reference and appeals and it would be disposed of very soon,” Anisul added. Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar and senior officials of the ministry concerned were present at the meeting.
