AK Palash Comilla representative : Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Huda has been transferred a day after the incident of sexual harassment of a woman worker of an NGO in Chandina, Comilla. He was transferred by an order of the District Superintendent of Police on Wednesday (March 19). On Thursday (March 20), OC Nazmul will hand over the charge of Chandina police station and Javed ul Islam, OC of Homna police station, is expected to join as the new OC. According to the incident, OC Nazmul Huda’s indifference and dereliction of duty has been revealed since last Monday (March 17) in the evening of Tulatali area of Chandina Municipality till 11:00 p.m. A male NGO worker was tied to a tree and sexually harassed a female worker with an electric shock. Even though the victim and villagers called the OC of Chandina Police Station to inform about the matter, he did not go to the spot and sent a police officer there. Tried to cover up the matter. Later, he was forced to take the matter into account in the face of fire from local journalists and residents, but did not file a case of sexual harassment. Locals alleged that the police took a fight against the culprits in order to save the sexual harassers and divert the incident in a different direction.
Meanwhile, the plaintiff victim of the case, Tarek Rahman, said that night he wrote the statement of the case on the police station’s computer and asked me to sign it. I don’t know what was written on it. The matter was brought to the attention of the District Superintendent of Police as the incident was reported in various media. In a letter signed by District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan on March 19, he ordered the transfer of the OC to Homna police station within 24 hours. Homna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Javed Ul Islam has been given charge of Chandina Police Station. In this regard, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Daudkandi Circle) Faisal Tanveer said that administrative reasons have been shown in the transfer order of the OC of Chandina police station. Yesterday Wednesday we got the copy of the order, today (Thursday) he handed over the charge.
