Online Desk  :   The government has issued a gazette declaring 3 April as a general holiday through an executive order. The Ministry of Public Administration issued the gazette on Sunday. All government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous and private offices, except emergency services, will remain closed on 3 April, the gazette said. The decision to declare a holiday on 3 April was taken during a meeting of the council of advisers of the government on 20 April to make people’s Eid journey easier.

Emergency services like electricity, water, gas and other fuel, fire service, port activities, cleaning activities, telephone, internet and postal services will remain out of the purview of this holiday, the gazette added. It further said hospitals, other emergency services and staff working in these services will not get this holiday. The Bangladesh Bank will give directions on the holiday notice of the banks, while the Supreme Court will direct the courts on this issue, the gazette further said.
