Online Desk : KPJ Specialized Hospital & Nursing College director Rajib Hasan said that Tamim Iqbal’s heart surgery went successful but he is still not out of critical state and the southpaw will be under intensive observations for the next 24 hours. Tamim was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match against Shinepukur Cricket Club in Savar on Monday. He suddenly felt discomfort in his chest while on the field at BKSP. A blockage was found after he underwent surgery and subsequently a valve ring was transplanted.
“Tamim Iqbal Bhai fell ill around 9:30 this morning. He was brought here in that condition, and treatment began immediately. Later, we realized that taking him to Dhaka wouldn’t be possible for various reasons. His condition became critical afterward. He was brought back in that critical state, and every necessary medical procedure was done. By the grace of Allah, his condition is now stable,” Rajib told the media after the surgery. Dr Rajib credited Dr Maruf for the successful surgery.
“He suffered a heart attack, so an angiogram, angioplasty, and stenting were performed. By Allah’s mercy, the stenting was done very smoothly and efficiently by Dr Maruf. The blockage has now been completely cleared.” “As we mentioned earlier, he was in a critical condition, but after the stenting, he is now under observation. The critical state isn’t fully over yet — it will take some time. We are all doing our absolute best,” he concluded. Meanwhile, the scheduled BCB board meeting on the day was cancelled after Tamim’s news broke.
