Staff Reporter : On the occasion of World Street Children’s Day, a big rally was organised on Saturday afternoon by ‘Dr. Mujib Newborn Foundation’. Eminent film actor and freedom fighter and founding president of Safe Road Chai Ilyas Kanchan inaugurated the colorful rally by flying a pigeon, said a press release.Bangladesh Supreme Court Deputy Attorney General Humayun Kabir Manju, Bangladesh Neonatal Hospital Chairman Mahmuda Sultana Asma, Academic Director of Ashulia Women and Children’s Hospital Professor Dr. Sufia Khatun, President of Skill Lab Sub-Committee Professor Dr. Ahmed Murtaza, Engineer Umashah Umayun Moni, Advocate Zainul Abedin and a large number of dignitaries participated in the programme.

The rally started from the National Press Club premises and ended at the Kadam Fountain.In a brief speech on the occasion Chairman of Mujib Newborn Foundation Dr. Mojibur Rahman said, they are committed to rescue and treat abandoned newborns and ensure their safe shelter. For this purpose, multifaceted service activities have been undertaken.However, people from all walks of life should come forward along with the government to speed up their activities. He demanded the establishment of ‘Newborn Hub’ and Shariah-based Human Milk Storage Center as a government initiative.Film personality Ilyas Kanchan in his speech said rescue, treatment and ensure their safe shelter. Dr Mujib lauded the noble initiative of Newborn Foundation. He cordially agreed to the offer to be appointed an advisor to the organization working on the rehabilitation of abandoned newborns.
