Online Desk : The crescent moon marking the start of the Islamic month of Zilhajj in the Hijri year 1446 has been sighted in Bangladesh, confirming that Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7. The National Moon Sighting Committee announced the sighting after a meeting held at 6:30pm on Wednesday at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s conference hall, chaired by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain.
Eid-ul-Azha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant Islamic festivals, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah. The occasion is marked by special prayers, animal sacrifices, and sharing meat with the poor and needy. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia sighted the Zilhajj moon on Tuesday and will observe Eid-ul-Azha on Friday, June 6, according to Gulf News. Indonesia has also set June 6 for its Eid celebrations. As preparations begin, Bangladeshi authorities have urged citizens to celebrate with religious devotion and discipline.
