Online Desk : Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has warned that anyone attempting to rig votes in the upcoming national election will face dire consequences, declaring that “their hands will be paralyzed.” Speaking as the chief guest at an Eid-ul-Azha greetings event organized by Kulaura Upazila Jamaat on Saturday evening, Dr. Rahman addressed a cross-section of the public at the Kulaura Municipality Hall in Moulvibazar. “Those truly capable of guiding this nation on the right path are the scholars and religious leaders (Alim-Ulama), whom I deeply respect,” he said. “If this country were led by them, Bangladesh would become a prosperous and just state.” He stressed that no society can achieve sustainable development without moral and religious leadership. “The person who stands at the mihrab to lead prayers is also the most suitable to lead society, as they are inherently qualified to guide people toward truth and justice,” he added.
Recalling the leadership and legacy of the late Jamaat leader Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, Dr. Rahman said, “We have much to learn from his ideals and leadership. Under his stewardship, 37 closed industrial enterprises were successfully revived in just three and a half years. If the leadership of Bangladesh’s 41 ministries were entrusted to capable and principled religious scholars, the country would surely transform.” Dr. Rahman also criticized what he described as the persistence of fascism in Bangladesh. “We will not accept fascism in this country. If anyone attempts to steal votes in the next election, they will face immediate consequences,” he warned.
Calling for a just and egalitarian society, Dr. Rahman said, “In the past, some dreamed of a ‘Golden Bengal,’ but instead turned the nation into a wasteland. We must not allow such mistakes to be repeated. The people want change, and all Islamic forces must unite to work toward that goal — while remaining vigilant against divisive conspiracies.” The event was conducted by Kulaura Upazila Jamaat Ameer Assistant Professor Abdul Muntazim. Among other speakers were Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Sylhet Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer and Central Executive Council Member Md. Fakhrul Islam, Moulvibazar District Jamaat Secretary Principal Md. Yameer Ali, Islami Andolan Bangladesh District President Abdul Quddus, Kulaura Press Club President M. Shakil Rashid Chowdhury, Jugantor District Correspondent Hossain Ahmed, former student leader Shelur Rahman, District Islami Chhatra Shibir President Md. Nizam Uddin, Upazila Shibir President Atikur Rahman Tarek, and Lecturer Zahirul Islam Sarkar, among others. Following the discussion, Dr. Rahman met with local dignitaries, exchanged greetings, and responded to various questions regarding the future development of Kulaura. The event drew a diverse audience from various walks of life.
