Online Desk : On the final day for registration submissions, National Citizen Party (NCP) submitted its official application to the Election Commission on Sunday, requesting ‘Shapla’ as the party’s electoral symbol. Alongside the submission, the party reiterated its demand for a reconstitution of the current Election Commission. The application, accompanied by necessary documents, was submitted by NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain at Election Commission building in capital’s Agargaon.
He was joined by Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, North Region Coordinator Sarjis Alam, Senior Joint Convener Samantha Sharmin and Joint Chief Coordinator Arifur Rahman Tuhin, along with a 50-member delegation of party leaders and activists. After submitting the application around 4:30 PM, Akhtar Hossain told reporters, “We’ve submitted all required documents meeting the conditions for registration. Among three symbols we proposed, we hope ‘Shapla’ will be allocated as our party’s symbol.”
Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary added that in addition to ‘Shapla’, the party also requested ‘Pen’ and ‘Mobile Phone’ as alternate symbols. However, he expressed confidence that ‘Shapla’ would be granted. “We believe NCP will get registered and secure a resounding victory with ‘Shapla’ symbol in the upcoming elections,” Patwary said. He further claimed that the party is poised to win 300 out of 400 seats proposed under their National Consensus and Reform Commission plan and form the next government. In response to a question, Patwary reaffirmed the party’s demand for a reconstitution of current Election Commission.
