Online Desk  :  The meeting of the Advisory Council began around 10:30 am on Thursday in the conference room of the Cabinet Division on the 5th floor of the newly constructed building number 1 at the Secretariat in Dhaka. The meeting is being presided over by Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, with other advisers in attendance. Earlier, at 9:25 am, the Chief Adviser arrived at the Secretariat to attend the Advisory Council meeting for the second time. He entered through Gate No. 5, located near the Press Club.

Strict security measures were in place surrounding the arrival of the head of the interim government at the Secretariat. During a visit to the Secretariat in the morning, it was observed that multiple layers of security had been deployed ahead of the Chief Adviser’s arrival. No vehicles were allowed to enter through any gate except gate number 1, where SWAT members were stationed. In addition, members of various law enforcement agencies, including the BGB, RAB, and police, were seen active both inside and outside the Secretariat. Only officials and employees working at the Secretariat were allowed entry. Vehicles without Secretariat entry stickers were barred. Even journalists assigned to cover the Secretariat were not permitted entry until 11:00 am.

Since the morning, only officials and staff of building number 1 were allowed near the premises. A significant deployment of law enforcement personnel was seen around the building, and an archway was installed in front of the newly constructed building. After taking oath as Chief Adviser, Dr. Yunus presided over the Advisory Council’s first meeting on the 13th floor of the Cabinet Room in Building No. 6 on 20 November last year. This marks his second visit to the Secretariat and the first meeting of the Advisory Council held in the new building.

Following the formation of the interim government on 8 August last year, Advisory Council meetings were held at the Chief Adviser’s official residence, Jamuna. After the fall of the previous government and the subsequent renovation of the damaged Prime Minister’s Office, the building was converted into the Chief Adviser’s Office, where meetings have been held regularly since. Following today’s Advisory Council meeting, the Chief Adviser is expected to hold a separate meeting with senior government officials. Dr. Yunus may issue directives regarding the upcoming national parliamentary elections during that meeting.
