Online Desk: Police are not allowing anyone to enter the building in Science Lab area that partially collapsed due to an explosion this morning. The two walls on the second floor collapsed due to the explosion. The building still seems risky, Mohid Uddin, an additional superintendent of Ramna Division Police, told reporters after visiting the ravaged floor. “There were some offices on the second floor which got damaged severely. I think no one should entered the building right now,” he said.

Fire officials will inspect the building later on, police officials said. Like the fire officials, the additional SP said they are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire. Electric-short circuit, accumulated gas, cylinder or AC explosion — any of them could be a possible cause, he said. “We are investigating the matter.” Fire official will investigate the cause of the fire too, he added.

At least three persons died and around 40 suffered injuries after the explosion took place around 10:50am. Thirteen of the injured are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Meanwhile, an official of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) said that there was no militancy link behind this incident.
