Online Desk: A calibration flight from Barisal to Dhaka made an emergency landing at Dhaka airport after the tyre of the nose wheel burst. The flight was operated by a Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft. It is a fully privately owned aircraft. The total number of seats of the aircraft is 11. There were only two pilots in the cockpit at the time of the incident.
Confirming the incident, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Executive Director Group Captain Kamrul Islam said it was a calibration flight, which landed safely. Flight calibration is the term used to cover a wide range of flight calibration, inspection and validation services. Flight calibration can include everything from checking navigation systems and ensuring radar systems are working so that an aircraft passes an inspection and its equipment is up to date.
Different airlines often conduct calibration or precession flights. In this flight, they measure airport technical issues, flight technical issues, route distance measurement, flight cost, competitive fare determination, average weather and air density, among other issues of the route.
According to the airport sources, the calibration flight left for Dhaka at 12:30pm. After about 30 minutes it decided to make an emergency landing due to a malfunction of its nose wheel. After circling the sky for a long time, it landed safely around 1:30pm. Meanwhile, three fire service units were present at the airport to avoid any major accident during the landing.
