The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk : BNP will not take part in the 12th parliamentary election under the Awami League government in any way, the party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has reiterated.
“With a view to cling to power and materialise its ill motives, the Awami League has abolished the caretaker government system. Now, it wants to hold another farcical election under the party government. But, we want to state it clearly that people of this country don’t believe Awami League and Sheikh Hasina. BNP will not take part in any election under the Awami League government,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a human-chain. In this regard, the BNP leader also said the government ‘ruined’ the constitution and made an arrangement for holding the election under a partisan government to establish a one-party rule system.
“Two elections were held under it in 2014 and 2018 without people’s votes… They have now a desire to stay in power till 2041. With that blueprint, they want to hold elections again in 2024 in the same manner,” Fakhrul said.
Dhaka City South of BNP formed the human-chain in front of the party’s central office premises at Nayapaltan in the capital early Saturday (March 11) afternoon. Thousands of leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies took part in the programme, led by Fakhrul from 11 am to 12 noon.
BNP also formed the human-chains at districts and metropolitan cities of the country on Saturday (March 11) as part of joint movement programmes with its allies.
The BNP Secretary General said the government wants to eliminate BNP and destroy its leadership. They have destroyed all the institutions of the country in a planned way. They want to make the country’s people fool by destroying the religious harmony. They want to cling to power by bribing others. “There is no alternative path in front of us. The government has launched various types of conspiracy. They wanted to create a communal incident in Panchagarh. Whenever we say anything about their corruption, they become angry and take various provocative initiatives,” he said. Fakhrul said the Awami League government has indulged in widespread corruption, forcing the world famous newspapers to make reports on its corruption. He said the power purchase deal with the Indian Adani Group is against the interests of Bangladesh. “We’re saying publicly that this agreement can’t go in favour of Bangladesh in any way.” The BNP leader warned that the people of Bangladesh will not accept the deal with Adani. “The question has been asked by many people from abroad how could the Bangladesh government sign this agreement? They signed the agreement because they want to stay in power with bribes.”
Mirza Fakhrul said BNP has been observing peaceful movement demanding resignation of the voterless and illegitimate government. People have joined the movement with BNP. The movement has been intensifying every day.
He also called upon the party leaders and workers to be organised and unite the people throughout the country to defeat the existing unpopular government of Sheikh Hasina.
