Online Desk: The Bangladesh Jeweler’s Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of gold by record Tk 7,698 per bhori following an increase in the price of pure gold in the bullion market. Now, the price of 22-carat of gold has been raised to Tk 98,794 a bhori (11.664 grams) from Tk 91,096 per bhori, 21-carat Tk 94,303, 18-carat Tk 80,832, and gold of traditional method Tk 67,301 respectively.

BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Price Fixation and Price Monitoring took the decision at a meeting on Saturday, a press release said. The new prices will come into effect from Sunday (March 19). Earlier, the BAJUS refixed the prices of gold on February 26 last which came into effect on the following day.

It may be recalled that the price of 22-carat of gold was Tk 87,247 a bhori on December 29 last year. On that day, the gold price was raised to Tk 88,413 by Tk 1,166. On January 7, the price of gold was increased by Tk 2,333 and fixed at Tk 90,746,  21-carat Tk 94,303, 18-carat Tk 80,832, and gold of traditional method Tk 67,301 respectively.
