Online Desk: A man was killed and 20 injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur early today. The deceased was idenitified as Avinash Mitra, 55. He was a lawyer of Mathbaria court, reports our local correspondent quoting Md Kamruzzaman Talukdar, Mathbaria Police Station officer-in-charge.

“The accident took place at Uttar Mithakhali village of the upazila around 3:00am. The driver of a Barguna-bound Ima Paribahan bus lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch,” the OC said.

Avinash died on the spot, said the OC, adding that three critically injured people were admitted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

The rest of the injured were admitted to Mathbari Upazila Health Complex, said the OC. The bus left Dhaka with 45 passengers, the OC added.

Yesterday, at least 19 people were killed and many others were injured after a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Kutubpur area in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur.
