Indian high commissioner visits Kushtia, Rajshahi

The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk : Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma was on a three-day visit to Kushtia and Rajshahi from 16-18 April. During his trip, he visited some of the significant cultural and educational landmarks in the region including the Somamasjid-Mahadipur Land Port, Rabindra Kuthibari, Varendra Museum, Lalon Shah Mazar, the mausoleum of Shaheed A.H.M Kamaruzzaman and also the Rajshahi University, UNB reports. At Somamasjid Land Port, High Commissioner met with the local trading communities and the business chambers and took stock of the ongoing efforts to facilitate travel for both passenger and business. High Commissioner also visited Rajshahi University where he was received by the Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Golam Shabbir Sattar. He took a guided tour of the Martyrs Museum and appreciated the role of Rajshahi University in the Liberation War of 1971.
The High Commissioner visited Rabindra Kuthibari, which has been renovated by India’s assistance and which is a part of the shared cultural heritage between India and Bangladesh.
He also explored the vast collection of archaeological artifacts at Varendra Museum and discussed the various aspects of museoulogy and the opportunities for conservation of historical artifacts and manuscripts. He laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Shaheed A.H.M Kamaruzzaman and also visited Lalon Shah Mazar.
The High Commissioner’s visit to Rajshahi highlights the efforts made for closer people-to-people interaction and to build connectivity for travel, exchange of ideas between our two countries and our people.
