Online Desk: Nine shops were gutted in a fire in Kalia upazila of Narail this morning. The fire broke out at a diesel shop around 10:30am at Shitalbati Sweet Gate Bazar, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Yasin Ali, the duty officer of Kalia Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Later, the fire spread to the adjacent shops. Locals managed to put out the blaze after one hour, Yasin Ali said. He said it takes some time for firefighters to reach the area as firefighters have to cross the Madhumati river to get there.
Kamrul Mollah, one of the affected traders, said the fire caused damage worth a few crores of taka. The blaze was initiated from an electrical short circuit, firefighter Yasin said.
