Bangladeshi shot by BSF dies at Tentulia, Panchagarh

Online Desk: A Bangladeshi stone worker, who was shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Butirpukur border at Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh district on Saturday afternoon, died. Deceased Polash, 35, was son of Abdur Rahman, a resident of Bogulahogi village in the upazila.

The victim succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in Rangpur Medical College Hospital. According to locals and family members of the victim, Polash along with others were collecting pebbles from Sao river in the village at about 2.00pm. A patrol team of BSF opened fire at the stone workers at that time, leaving Polash critically injured.

Being informed, other stone workers rushed to the spot and rescued Polash. They took Polash to Panchagarh Adhunik Hospital for treatment. The victim was then referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Dr Rakibul Hasan of Panchagarh Adhunik Hospital said Polash was shot on the left side of his belly. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-18) battalion commander Lt Col Jobaed Hasan said they were trying to communicate with BSF and a flag meeting would be held in this regard.
