Online Desk: The High Court on Wednesday revoked the stay order on Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to file criminal cases. Following the order, the BGB can now file cases, said lawyers.

The High Court bench of Justice SM Quddus Zaman and Justice Shahed Nuruddin revoked the stay. Deputy attorney general Sujit Chattarjee Bappi was at the court on behalf of the state.

The HC on Tuesday stayed the criminal case filed by the BGB after a hearing. The court, at the same time, also wanted to know why the charge framing against the accused in criminal cases will not be cancelled. June 14 was fixed for the next hearing.

Earlier in 2022, the BGB seized a large amount of Indian goods and filed a case with Akhaura Railway Police Station in Brahmanbaria against the accused under Section 25(B) of the Special Powers Act. A Brahmanbaria court framed the charges in the case and ordered to start the trial.

Later, accused Kamruzzaman Khan filed an appeal to the High Court challenging the validity of the charge frame.
